Veteran Owned & Operated
James “Jay” Wilson came up through dealerships and independent shops before starting Wilson's Mobile Mechanic. He is a veteran and a father of three, and both show up in how the work gets run.
The dealership model is built around throughput. A service advisor takes the complaint, a technician gets paid by the job, and the customer gets a phone call with a number and very little explanation. It works — but a lot of people leave feeling like they were talked at rather than talked to.
Wilson's Mobile Mechanic is set up the other way around. The person who diagnoses your vehicle is the person who repairs it and the person who answers when you call back. There is no advisor in the middle translating, and there is no incentive to sell a repair the vehicle does not need.
Most mobile mechanics can only take the jobs a driveway allows, so anything bigger becomes somebody else's problem. We solved that by keeping all three pieces: a fully equipped service truck, a shop at 395 Huford Harris Rd in Spring Hope, and our own tow truck. Whatever your vehicle needs, it stays inside the same conversation and the same estimate.
Marine work is not a line we added to look broad. Outboards, sterndrives, pontoons, and jet skis get the same treatment as a truck, and it matters most in July when every marina from Kerr Lake to Lake Gaston is booked three weeks out.
Straight answers, a price before the work, and a labor warranty behind it. If a repair costs more than the vehicle is worth, you will hear that too. That is the part reviewers keep writing about, and it is the whole business model.

Prompt. Reasonable. Honest. Every review below is a real Google review, reproduced word for word.
James is super nice and straightforward. Quality work and great communication. Needed help with my diesel and he came through quick. Thank you sir!
I bought my 2015 Ford Edge about six months ago with a warranty in Wilson, NC. When the front defrost stopped working, the Ford dealership quoted me an extremely high repair cost, and my warranty didn’t cover it. Since the car had already lost half its value, trading it in wasn’t worth it. With help from my husband, I researched the issue and learned about mobile mechanics—something I’d never heard of before. That’s when I found James Wilson of Wilson’s Mobile Mechanic. He immediately identified the problem over the phone using the exact terms I had just learned. My husband and I previously ran an HVAC company for 10 years, so we’ve worked with many contractors, and James truly stands out. James is professional, knowledgeable, friendly, efficient, and clearly cares about his customers. He’s also a veteran and a father of three, which speaks to his integrity. He even recommended a better car warranty that I switched to right away. It’s convenient that he can come to your home, offer towing if needed, or work from his shop in Spring Hope, NC. And even though I’m clearly not a mechanic, he patiently explained everything and answered all my questions. I highly recommend James to single women, families, or anyone who wants a trustworthy mechanic who genuinely has their best interests in mind.
Jay and his team are fantastic. Prompt, courteous, great prices and the work is top-notch! I have found my new go to mechanic. From one Veteran to another, thank you for your service and your great work!
Call or text Jay or Jon. You will get a real person who works on vehicles for a living, a real answer about timing, and a price before anything starts.
