A P0171 lean code can come from a torn intake boot, a dirty mass airflow sensor, a weak fuel pump, or a lazy upstream oxygen sensor. We pull stored, pending, and history codes, review live data and freeze-frame values, and run the physical tests — smoke, voltage drop, fuel pressure — that separate the failure from the symptom.
